Great Diamond! Island

July 30th, 2009  |  by  |  published in Mingle

Stacey (Rhode Island Wedding Photographer) came up to Maine to second shoot a wedding with me, Andree, (Maine Wedding Photographer) on Great Diamond island a few weeks ago. It is always so amazing to have a second shooter along, as you can get tons of great angles and shots that you just can’t get by yourself, partly because you can’t be in two places at once, and partly because with another photographer shooting, you can check to make sure someone is getting the safe photo and then you can get yourself somewhere really different and push boundaries.

Here is the album my designer came up from our work. As with the wedding I shot with Earl earlier this year, the breakdown of photos in the album works out to 50%mine and 50% Stacey’s.

Photography Assignment #1- “The Moment After”

July 19th, 2009  |  by  |  published in Mingle

the-moment-after

In the past, we’ve organized a bunch of group shoots with models, which has been fabulous fun, but that format can accommodate a limited number of photographers. Our new Assignment Series comes from our desire to work with even more New England photographers.

In the past, as a mental exercise, we have played around with illustrating an abstract concept like “Noise” or “Line” through photography. We want to bring it down to earth a little bit and pick a concept that could be illustrated in the course of our working days. We’re hoping you’ll wanna play along.  Wedding photographer or photography enthusiast, New England resident or just a resident of planet earth, everyone is welcome to try their hand.

The assignment is to illustrate the concept “The Moment After”. This might be a photojournalistic exercise or an artistic construction. We leave it up to you to define the phrase and how you will interpret it. The most creative entry wins! Actually, everyone wins. We will post all of the entries on our blog, complete with a link back to your blog.

Images should be sized to 800 pixels on the long side. If you need help figuring that out, ask your favorite Shootstyler! And by all means, slap that logo on there if you have one! Email your entry to:

assignment@shootstyle.com

The images will be used on this blog, Facebook, and a few select images may make a post on the Digital Wedding Forum, just ’cause we’ll want to show everyone’s cool ideas off! :)

We’ll have an album on our Facebook fan page. When the entries start coming in, we’ll post them there first. Check in with us at Facebook if you are looking for some inspiration.

The deadline is August 18th, a Tuesday. If you’d like to think about this “Moment After” at your weddings, we think that would be pretty keen.

Let’s have fun doing this together!!
